5 Mascara Alternatives for Healthy, Beautiful Lashes

Mascara alternatives – close up of woman's blue eyes with nice eyelashes

After years of continually using mascara, I’ve found out a few facts:

For starters, mascara can cause your lashes to become brittle after a while. It’s also one of the most time-consuming steps in your makeup routine – not to mention that it can smudge, run, or flake while you’re going about your day.

Does that mean I’m breaking up with mascara? Hell no! I’m not ready to say goodbye to the dramatic flair that my mascara adds to my makeup look.

But it might be time to save it for special occasions and look for everyday-use mascara alternatives.

Here is my pick of the best mascara alternatives that I’ve found.

1. Lash Lifts or Tints

Lash Lift & Tint

Lash lifts or tints are two different processes that you can have done at the salon or at home.

Lash lifting involves applying a permanent curling solution to your upper lash line, so your lashes stay defined and lifted.

You can use the Lashview lifting kit to lift your lashes at home – it’s enough for 10 applications.

Meanwhile, lash tinting involves giving your lashes a darker color, which helps if you have naturally light lashes.

Both methods can be mascara alternatives, but you’ll need to redo them every once in a while when the effect wears off.

If you have the budget then personally I’d recommend heading to your salon for an LVL treatment. It incorporates both a lift and tint, and the results are gorgeous!

2. Fake Lashes

Fake Lashes

If you have a wedding, celebration, or any occasion and want to have dramatic lashes without applying mascara, go for fake lashes.

It’s a temporary solution, so you can’t depend on it for long-term application.

However, it’s a quick fix if your eyes are sensitive or allergic to mascara. Besides, the lashes are easy to apply using lash glue.

You can apply them yourself if you have a kit like this one from Losha.

3. Lash Serum

Lash Serum

For a natural look like a clear mascara would give you, I’d recommend using a lash serum.

It gives a shiny look that will complement your no-make-up look. Besides, by consistently using lash serum, you’ll have longer, healthier, and thicker lashes.

So, you might not need mascara at all!

The GrandeLASH-MD serum is an excellent option to start with. It shows quick results after only one month of consistent use, and it can provide full improvement in three months, which is quicker than I can say for most lash products.

4. Aloe Vera

Aloe Vera

Aloe vera has a myriad of uses, one of which is as a natural alternative to mascara.

It offers subtle lash enhancement without the side effects of mascara, and it’s easy to apply and remove.

Besides, it’ll nourish and hydrate your lashes, promoting healthier growth.

You can incorporate the Ere Perez aloe vera mascara into your daily makeup routine. However, first, make sure you’re not allergic or sensitive to aloe vera.

5. Lash Extension

Lash Extensions

Like false lashes, lash extensions are applied as a temporary solution to give your lashes more volume.

However, unlike false lashes, they can last for weeks – you don’t have to remove them as quickly as fake lashes.

You can have the extensions done at the salon or apply them yourself at home. To do it at home, you’ll need a lash extension kit like this one from Quewel.

Just try to avoid having lash extensions done too often, or they could damage your natural lashes.
