Which makeup and skincare brand is best?
Although there’s no easy way to answer this question, I’m going to explore what each of these brands excels at.
Lancôme and Clinique are two popular global brands that keep impressing their fans and loyal clients with more products. But which is best?
I’ve created this detailed Lancôme vs Clinique comparison to help you pick the right products to add to your cart on your next shopping spree.
So, let’s dive in.
Lancôme vs Clinique
Lancôme is a luxury French brand, founded in 1935 by Guillaume d’Ornano and Armand Petitjean.
It started as a fragrance house but later expanded to offer multiple skincare and makeup products. The brand was acquired by L’Oréal in 1964.
Clinique is an American brand, founded by Estee Lauder in 1968.
It became the world’s first allergy-tested, dermatologist-driven cosmetics brand, focusing on improving the skin while providing natural-looking makeup for everyday wear.
Best Products of Lancôme and Clinique
Both brands offer a wide range of product lines and choices. However, Lancôme prioritizes its fragrance line, with some antiaging and eye makeup products.
Clinique, on the other hand, offers moisturizing products that target slightly younger clients or those with sensitive skin.
In this section, I’ll highlight some of my favorites.
Fragrance
Clinique Happy is a daytime perfume that works for summertime. Its refreshing citrusy and fresh floral notes guaranteed its status as a best-seller for years.
But Lancôme offers more options to suit every occasion. I used to be a big fan of La Vie Est Belle until everyone started wearing it!

The same applies to Idôle Eau De Parfum, which combines citrusy notes with florals and white musk.
I’m currently more into La Vie Est Belle Intensément, which contains raspberry, jasmine, and red iris notes.
Skincare
Lancôme is famous for its luxurious antiaging products. The Advanced Génifique Face Serum is a moisturizing serum that strengthens your skin barrier, visibly diminishing the look of wrinkles and fine lines.
With continuous use, this product will improve the skin’s elasticity and subtly create a lifting effect.
If your face becomes too dry after you remove your makeup, I’d recommend using the Tonique Confort Hydrating Toner, as it contains hyaluronic acid to restore hydration.

I like to top that with the Rénergie Lift Multi-Action Night Cream, which offers antiaging, lifting, and firming benefits.
Clinique’s products are more suitable for those with sensitive skin or suffer from allergies.
I love the All About Eyes™ Eye Cream with Vitamin C, as it provides hydration to diminish the fine lines, while the vitamin C has a brightening effect.

I pair this with the Moisture Surge™ 100H Auto-Replenishing Hydrator, as my everyday moisturizer.
Makeup
Lancôme’s Teint Idole Ultra Wear Foundation is a cult favorite, offering 24-hour wear with a natural matte finish.
It offers a medium buildable coverage without drying your skin as it’s formulated using vitamin E and hyaluronic acid.
But if you have really dry skin, I recommend using the Ultra Wear Care & Glow Serum Foundation, instead.
The Ultra Wear All Over Full Coverage Concealer is perfect if you have really dark undereye circles. It’s available in 24 shades to conceal your under-eye bags perfectly.

Clinique’s Even Better Clinical™ Serum Foundation Broad Spectrum SPF 25 offers a sheer to medium coverage, so it’s more suitable for everyday use. It contains vitamin C for a brightening effect.
For an overall glow and pop of color, I prefer their Chubby Stick™ Cheek Colour Balm. This versatile product can be used to add color to the cheeks, eyelids, and lips.
However, for a satin finish on your lips, I’d choose the Chubby Stick™ Moisturizing Lip Colour Balm.
When it comes to eye makeup, nothing beats the Hypnôse Drama Mascara. It gives you the effect of false lashes with up to 21X your natural volume.
I love to use it with different shades of the Drama Liqui-Pencil Dramatic Eyeliner, as it comes in eight shades. For a smudging effect, I prefer the Quickliner™ For Eyes Eyeliner from Clinique.

I usually set my makeup using the Long Time No Shine Loose Setting Powder for a natural matte finish. It absorbs the oil and smoothes out the makeup look all day.
Wrap Up
Lancôme and Clinique are two popular brands that work for various purposes and occasions.
Lancôme offers a wide selection of fragrances, and its foundation, concealer, and mascara are best sellers.
Clinique, on the other hand, specializes in producing skincare and makeup products that work for people with sensitive skin.
I’d say that Clinique is my personal favorite, simply because I do have sensitive skin and Clinique is better formulated for that.
But I do believe that choosing a combo of both brands will help you create the perfect makeup look regardless of the occasion.
