Elf vs Charlotte Tilbury: The Ultimate Comparison

Elf vs Charlotte Tilbury

Choosing makeup products is all about trial and error. People might swear by a specific product that breaks you out or doesn’t last on your face.

It’s a personal experience that takes a lot of research and patience.

I’m sure you’ve come across both Elf and Charlotte Tilbury: two makeup brands with heaps of positive reviews.

Some people swear that Elf provides good dupes for the more luxurious and expensive Charlotte Tilbury products. So, is this true?

Consider yourself lucky because, in my Elf vs Charlotte Tilbury standoff, I will compare these two beauty brands, highlighting the features of each one.

I’ll also talk about their best products – let’s go!

Elf vs Charlotte Tilbury

As someone who uses makeup regularly, I figured out that some brands excel in certain product categories.

But Elf and Charlotte Tilbury seem to deliver excellent overall performance, so you can get a whole face using one of the brands and look amazing.

But what sets them apart? Here are some points.

Origin

Elf Cosmetics is an American drugstore brand. The company produces cruelty-free makeup and skincare products, and most of the sales come from the company’s website.

Elf Cosmetics targets GenZ customers, although it’s also quite popular among millennials.

Charlotte Tilbury Beauty is a London-based makeup brand founded by Charlotte Tilbury, a renowned makeup artist.

It’s sold online and in stores, and it’s quite popular among celebrities, as it’s well known for its red-carpet-ready and vintage-style makeup and skincare products. It’s also cruelty-free.

Price

Certainly, the first difference you’ll notice when you compare Elf to Charlotte Tilbury is the price difference.

Elf is a budget-friendly brand but this doesn’t mean that it uses low-quality ingredients. Charlotte Tilbury’s products, on the other hand, cost more.

Performance

Many people swear by Elf’s products, praising their high quality. Some even believe that they’re better than more expensive brands.

Charlotte Tilbury is known to deliver luxurious products that work for older women who want to have your-skin-but-better look without using tons of products.

Best Products of Elf vs Charlotte Tilbury

Now, it’s time to talk about the most famous products you can get from each brand.

These are my personal favorites, so give them a try if you’re considering buying new makeup.

Makeup Prep and Primer

Prepping your skin helps makeup glide smoothly and last while looking fresh.

The Magic Serum Crystal Elixir by Charlotte Tilbury contains 2% Replexium™️, a peptide proven to make your skin look younger.

It also contains Polyglumatic acid, which is four times more hydrating than hyaluronic acid.

Follow this with a moisturizer like Charlotte’s Magic Cream. It’s a cult favorite, as it was formulated by the artist herself to moisturize the complexion of supermodels on the runway.

Elf’s Holy Hydration is a good dupe, and it’s easily absorbed into the skin.

A primer helps your makeup last all day while looking fresh. Elf’s Power Grip Primer is a must-have as it works for all skin types and doesn’t cause any breakouts.

The Power Grip Primer + 4% Niacinamide provides skincare benefits as the Niacinamide brightens your skin and evens out its tone.

Foundation and Concealer

Charlotte Tilbury’s Hollywood Flawless Filter is probably the brand’s best-seller, available in 12 shades.

This is a multi-purpose product that creates a glow, giving you a healthy look while blurring out any texture or imperfections, with or without the Airbrush Flawless Foundation.

Many people use it under their foundation as a primer, as it moisturizes the skin for up to 24 hours.

You can also use a lighter shade as a concealer, although I personally prefer the Beautiful Skin Radiant Concealer.

The brand offers the Unreal Skin Sheer Glow Tint Hydrating Foundation Stick for sheer to light coverage, and it’s available in more shades.

For those who prefer medium coverage, the Beautiful Skin Foundation will be an excellent choice.

I believe that Elf’s Halo Glow Liquid Filter is Charlotte Tilbury’s Hollywood Flawless Filter’s dupe.

It delivers the same sheer glowy coverage for a fraction of the price, and it’s available in 12 shades, too.

The Soft Glam Satin Foundation offers buildable coverage for those who want to blur more imperfections without looking cakey.

But being affordable isn’t Elf’s only strength. It’s more inclusive with more shades to suit every skin tone.

The Soft Glam Foundation is available in 36 shades, for example.

Lipstick

Pillow Talk is Charlotte Tilbury’s most famous nude lipstick – and my personal favorite.

It glides smoothly over your lips, giving them a fuller and healthier look. Elf’s O FACE Satin Lipstick in Dirty Pink is a good dupe.

Cheeks and Bronzer

Elf offers a Cream Contour Palette that you can use to sculpt your face. The Halo Glow Blush Beauty Wand is available in different shades to suit every complexion.

But I prefer the Monochromatic Multi Stick because you can use it as a blusher, highlighter, eyeshadow, and for the lips.

I like to use this then top it with a post-beach glow with Charlotte Tilbury’s Glowgasm Face Palette.

You can use it to enhance your features or add a glow to your regular blush. The shades also work for soft eyeshadow looks.

Eyes

Creating a runway-ready look is possible with The Feline Flick and Legendary Lashes Mascara from Charlotte Tilbury.

But Elf’s No Budge Precision Eyeliner is arguably more convenient because it comes in more shades.

The Brow Lift is an excellent product from Elf because it helps keep your eyebrows in place for a lifted look.

Elf offers several mascara types, but my favorite is the Big Mood Mascara, which comes in five cool shades.

Setting Your Makeup

Many people skip setting their makeup, although this crucial step can make their products last all day long regardless of the weather.

Charlotte Tilbury’s Airbrush Flawless Finish Powder is a celebrity favorite as it acts like a real-life filter to blur out all imperfections.

It contains light-reflecting pearls to illuminate your complexion while giving you a subtly matte finish.

Elf’s High Definition Powder might not be an exact dupe, but it’s a good alternative if you want to save some money.

The Halo Glow Setting Powder creates a soft glow without shine, so you can combine both for a filter-like effect.

The Airbrush Setting Spray is lightweight and waterproof, allowing your makeup to last up to 16 hours.

But Elf offers more options if you prefer a dewy look with the Power Grip Dewy Setting Spray.

The Stay All Night Blue Light Micro-Setting Mist is another choice that makes your makeup last for 10 hours.

Wrap Up

Elf and Charlotte Tilbury are two popular brands with a lot in common.

Although Elf is more affordable, it offers high-quality products that some consider dupes for the more luxurious products of Charlotte Tilbury.

I have to say that my slight preference goes to Charlotte Tilbury as you do get a slightly higher quality of product.

But I cannot argue with the excellent value of Elf products and they do make fantastic alternatives.
