It smells herbal, feels nourishing, and leaves your skin baby-soft. I personally love it on nights when I want a little ritual with my routine.
Clinique’s Take The Day Off Cleansing Balm is far more stripped-back.
It does the same job – removing makeup and sunscreen effortlessly – but with zero fragrance or botanical extracts.
It’s ideal if you’ve got sensitive skin or want something straightforward and effective.
Both are great. If you want luxury and don’t mind fragrance, go Elemis. If you want function over fluff, Clinique nails it.
Moisturisers: Marine Cream vs Moisture Surge
Winner: Elemis (for mature skin), Clinique (for oily/combo skin)
Elemis Pro-Collagen Marine Cream is one of those products that people either fall in love with or find too rich.
For me, it’s a beautiful option in winter or when my skin is feeling parched.
It’s packed with marine actives, peptides, and antioxidants, and it gives that lovely dewy, “just-had-a-facial” look.
Clinique’s Moisture Surge 100H Auto-Replenishing Hydrator (yes, long name) is lighter, gel-based, and more suited to oily or combination skin.
It sinks in quickly, layers well under makeup, and doesn’t clog pores. I find myself reaching for it during hot months or when my skin is acting up and I don’t want to overload it.
So this one comes down to skin type: Dry, mature, or dehydrated skin? Elemis. Oilier or breakout-prone? Clinique.
Eye Creams + Serums
Winner: Elemis (for eyes), Clinique (for spot treatments)
Elemis’s Pro-Collagen Eye Revive Mask is lovely for smoothing and hydrating tired under-eyes – especially if you lean dry or are starting to notice fine lines creeping in.
It’s more of a treatment texture than a traditional eye cream, and I like using it overnight when I’ve been skimping on sleep.
Clinique, meanwhile, excels when it comes to targeted serums.
Their Even Better Clinical Dark Spot Corrector is one of the few brightening products I’ve used consistently that actually helped fade hyperpigmentation.

This category’s an easy win for Elemis, in my book.
Their Papaya Enzyme Peel is gentle, effective, and one of the best enzyme masks I’ve tried – especially if you’re looking for glow without irritation.
And the Dynamic Resurfacing Facial Pads are another great pick if you want exfoliation without the burn.
Clinique’s exfoliating options are a little more old-school (think gritty scrubs), and while they’ve expanded into more gentle acids in recent years, nothing has wowed me quite like Elemis’s formulas have.
Fragrance + Sensitivities
Winner: Clinique
If your skin reacts to fragrance, Clinique is the safer choice.
Everything is 100% fragrance-free and allergy-tested, which makes it a great option if you’re sensitive or dealing with skin conditions like eczema or rosacea.
