5 Incredible Skincare-Makeup Hybrids for a Natural Look

Makeup-Skincare Hybrids

I don’t know about you, but I get overwhelmed having so many products in my cabinet. The anxiety of owning forgotten bottles, expired items, or holding on to products simply because I don’t want to throw them away gets to me!

If you can relate, then maybe you should also consider skincare-makeup hybrid products. I can safely say that they’ve saved me much of the hassle!

In this guide, I bring you my personal experience with these products and provide my best skincare-makeup hybrids for you to try out.

Let’s transition together from traditional products to these convenient ones.

What Are Skincare-Makeup Hybrid Products?

Believe it or not, skincare-makeup hybrid products have been around for longer than you think.

It was interesting to find that the first of these products was made in the 1960s by the hands of Dr. Christine Schrammek.

That said, they didn’t get as popular as they are today until recently. The trend started in Korea and other parts of Asia (as many trends do!) with brand products from BB and CC.

These brand names launched some of the first hybrid cosmetics, like a multi-functional face cream.

So if we’ve had access to skincare-makeup hybrids for a while now, what’s making it a big deal as of recent years?

Well, with the rise of minimalism, decluttering, and reducing waste, skincare-makeup hybrids have jumped back on the scene.

Imagine how easy it is to have your makeup double as your skincare. That’s less time and effort spent in the morning – especially if you’re a busy person like me!

Why You Should Use Skincare-Makeup Hybrids

As I just mentioned, saving time in the morning is a huge benefit of switching to hybrid products.

I know that for many of you, the time spent on having both a skincare routine and putting on a full face of makeup leads you to skip one of them.

That’s no longer going to be the case with hybrids! You don’t have to sacrifice your skin’s health just to wear makeup every day or get weighed down with tens of products.

But it’s not the only benefit. Dermatologists will tell you that ‘product overuse’ is a real problem when it comes to the traditional way of using skincare products before makeup ones.

For instance, in an interview with the New York Times, Dr. Tamia Harris-Tryon, a certified Texan dermatologist said:

“The more products you use, the harder it can be for your skin to do its job and the more problems that may pop up.”

5 Best Skincare-Makeup Hybrids

By now, you must be wondering how much better hybrid products can be – especially since they contain skincare active ingredients.

Don’t worry! While the formulas will be different than the traditional stuff you’re used to, it doesn’t mean it’s any less effective.

As promised, to help you out, here are my top 5 hybrid products that I swear by. With these, you can easily get that ‘no-makeup’ makeup look the world is currently obsessed with.

1. Clinique Even Better Concealer

An excellent concealer is a staple in anyone’s makeup bag, right? So I had to start off with one.

Clinique’s Even Better Concealer + Eraser has the right formula to both cover those dark circles and heal the skin under your eyes.

For instance, it contains vitamin C and hyaluronic acid to brighten, smoothen, and hydrate the eyes’ sensitive skin.

The formula also has caffeine and ceramide derivatives that help reduce signs of fatigue and puffiness.

And rejoice those with sensitive skin! This concealer is allergy-tested and fragrance-free.

2. Glow Recipe Lip Pop

Glow Recipe is a cruelty-free brand, but out of all their products, their lip pops are to die for!

Dehydrated, cracked lips are a big issue that many face, myself included. That’s a problem you don’t have to worry about with this hydrating, long-lasting lip pop.

And as a plus, the product smells incredible and tastes like watermelon!

With a scrub-to-balm formula, this lip pop exfoliates the lips and leaves you with a soft, pink hue for a natural look.

While it may be a bit expensive for a lip balm, the tint, feel, and scent make it worth the money in my opinion.

3. Rare Beauty Soft Pinch Liquid Blush

I’m a little biased when it comes to Selena Gomez and her makeup brand, Rare Beauty. Their products hardly miss, if ever, and are always a staple in my cabinet.

So, I just had to include a product of theirs on the list – specifically Rare Beauty’s Soft Pinch Liquid Blush.

A liquid product with a matte finish, this blush is long-lasting and compliments all skin types and tones.

The blush also contains dimethicone and isododecane. These are emollients that reinforce the skin barrier, target fine lines and wrinkles, and can help with acne scars.

It’s a must-have product if you ask me!

4. L’Oreal Paris True Match Foundation

Did you think I wouldn’t include a foundation on my hybrid list? A good foundation can make or break your makeup so I bring you L’Oreal Paris’ True Match Foundation.

It provides a light to medium coverage, is lightweight, and doesn’t clog up your pores. No caking incidents with this one either.

It lasts all day, and its creamy, hydrating formula will help the driest of skins.

The formula is non-comedogenic as well, making it suited for most skin types, including sensitive or combination.

Even better, it wasn’t hard to find my shade as the product line is quite extensive.

5. Ilia Limitless Lash Mascara

You can skip the eyeshadow and eyeliner, but you can never skip mascara – am I right?

Ilia’s Limitless Lash Mascara is ophthalmologist-tested, cruelty-free, and gluten-free.

While it may smudge in high humidity, the mascara has a formula that enriches and lengthens eyelashes.

It’s another pricey product for some, but it doesn’t make my rather sensitive eyes water so I don’t mind the splurge.

Closing Thoughts

To sum up, hybrid products are clearly the beauty trend that’s here to stay. Dermatologists and beauty gurus alike seem to agree that these products should be your new go-to.

Luckily, you now know the best skincare-makeup hybrids out there for you to get and try out for yourself.

Experiment with my favorites and see how big a difference these products will make in your daily get-ready routine.
